Factors we consider before breeding include work drive, racing performance, social development, trainability and pedigree. Also, are their responses to a variety of social interactions positive?
The first 13 weeks of a pups life are most important with regard to their personality and social skill development.  During this time their responses to new situations and temperament are somewhat "imprinted" upon a dog's psyche.   We want our dogs to feel confident and respond positively to a variety of situations.  To ensure the  pups we breed are well socialized and will grow into well adjusted adults, we expose our pups to a variety of social experiences, people and places to help promote confidence and sound  development.  Some of these activities include visiting school sporting events, swimming at local lakes, free running on local trails chasing the 4-wheeler where we'll see other people, and even leash walks past local livestock farms.   We have found that these activities help the pups adapt and succeed in a variety of environments.

Planned for 2011
Spongebob x Hadley breeding

This Spring 2008 breeding produced some superstars, so on  Laredo's next heat we're heading back up to see Jessica and Junior.  I'm planning on keeping the males but females will be available.

Pedigree of Laredo/Junior pups

Dam: Laredo
2005, 47lbs, from very large lines,  owned by Christina Eagle and Quentin Sprague. 50% German Shorthair Pointer,  25% English Pointer, 25%Alaskan husky. Bred by Rex Jones out of Balto x Cherokee.  Led all three days for Wendy Callis in the 2008 LNAC's.

Sire: Junior
2005, 67lbs, owned by Jessica Doherty. 50% English Pointer, 50% Alaskan husky. Bred by T&B Streeper out of Crazy x Zazz. Jessica says "Junior is an exceptional dog & leader with the best head she's seen in 22 years". He is out of Crazy, a known producer of hard headed leaders. Several littermates are also running on the Streepers main team, including 2008 Fur Rondy & ONAC.

Laredo flew into Boston from Fairbanks, Alaska on Tues evening (3/18) at 5:10pm.  She was in stage 3 of her heat cycle, so Ayana and I jumped in the truck and drove another 600 miles one way to Jessica and Brian's in Palermo, NY to pair her with Junior.   Within 8 minutes of the pairing, we had a nice long tie! I left to take a shower, came back an hour later and Junior and Laredo were at it again for a second tie.

**UPDATE*** 8/9/08
Megan and Quentin chose Squidward, Plankton, Sandy Cheeks and Karen. We chose:

Spongebob - the LARGEST male of the litter.  At 9 weeks, his front paws were bigger than his mom Laredo's.  Excellent drive and build.  Fights with Pearl to stay in front.

Spongebob- had first snow run 11/22!!

62 lbs at 6 months- built like Junior

Pearl -  The largest female of the litter.  VERY muscular like her dad Junior. She was a standout in terms of attitude and competitiveness from the very first  time we did some leash and puppy harness work.

Pearl-Natural leader from day one- HATES point

50 lbs at 6 months

Miss Puff - The pup that looks most like Laredo from the litter.  Also a very driven and competitive female.  Very confident.  Strutted around the dog yard with all the adults when she was 10 weeks old like she was boss and ran the place.

Miss Puff at 6 months - 53 lbs

Exceptional conformation

Happy Patty - What is striking about Patty is her wide ribcage.  We used to call her fatty patty, but I was informed, "Mom, she's not fat. She's big ribbed."  She's named after the famous Crabby Patty on Spongebob, but she's too happy so it didn't fit.  She is best friends with her bro Spongebob.
